Introduction:
Communicable diseases, also termed as transmissible or infectious diseases, stem from pathogenic microorganisms. Routes of transmission encompass respiratory droplets, contact with infected persons, ingestion of contaminated food or water, insect bites, among others. The impact of these diseases on public health is significant, affecting individuals, communities, and populations at large. Outbreaks strain healthcare systems, disrupt economies, and result in substantial morbidity and mortality rates. Hence, effectively managing and controlling communicable diseases stands as a paramount concern for both global health organizations and governments..
The topic of communicable diseases was selected due to its immense relevance and significance in public health and global healthcare systems. It gains added importance in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, emphasizing the crucial need for managing and preventing communicable diseases. Exploring this topic offers insights into disease nature, prevention, management, and the vital role of public health initiatives. It helps us grasp the global impact of pandemics, vaccination significance, antimicrobial resistance, socio-economic disparities, and the role of education in disease control.
